If I could only choose one tool to use, it would be kettlebells.
Kettlebells are the perfect low impact tool to improve strength, endurance, power, core strength and cardiovascular fitness. I often replace running with kettlebell workouts when training for ultramarathons to avoid injury and increase aerobic fitness and leg power. This strength-endurance style of training can be accomplished in as little as 10-20 minutes and absolutely nothing can beat that.
“I lost 5kg in 3 weeks – WOW!” Bonita, age 37
I use kettlebells with all my clients. Everyone sees rapid improvement and because so many have been buying kettlebells from me, I thought it would be quicker and easier if I just shared my source! I buy from Australian Kettlebells in Richmond. They are not only the cheapest in the country, but they are the best quality I have seen. The Classic Kettlebells are cheaper but I use the Pro Grades as they are more comfortable.
Check them out here:
Girls – I recommend starting with 8kg or 12kg
Guys – I recommend starting with 16kg
This is also where I buy my resistance bands and that dreaded Ab Wheel! You can buy them all here. Again, they are the highest quality AND the cheapest I have found in the country.
If you decide to buy a kettlebell or two I highly recommend getting some wrist bands. These serve two purposes. Firstly, if you are new to kettlebells, the wrist bands will provide protection and comfort as you get used to this new tool. Secondly, they stop sweat dripping down to your hands, and sweaty hands means the kettlebell will slip and you will either find it hard to hold or you may get blisters. I sell them here or you can buy them via the kettlebell link above or any sports store.
Kettlebell Classes
I am now running outdoor kettlebell training sessions in Fairfield. They are at 6am on Tuesdays and Fridays for around 45 minutes. These are unlike any kettlebell classes you may have come across in gyms before as the classes are strictly limited with a strong focus on technique. This is a great opportunity learn correct technique and put it into practise in your workouts. Details are here.
